Stage one of works begins on new T2 casual dining precinct

 Sydney Airport has commenced stage one of the improvements on the T2 Departures casual dining precinct in an exciting transformation designed to create a world-class airport experience for passengers, visitors and staff.

Starting this month, the T2 casual dining precinct is undergoing an exciting refresh of the food and beverage offering to enhance value and choice for passengers, delivering an overall superior customer experience in the T2 Domestic terminal.

New food brands announced for the revitalised space include Chur Burger in an airport first. The high-profile burger restaurant is the brainchild of famed chef Warren Turnbull, who also developed past gourmet ventures and award-winning restaurants Assiette and District Dining.

The burger offering will be joined by an extensive selection of brand new food and beverage options, including Mad Mex, SumoSalad Green Label, Roll’d, Hokka Hokka, Red Rooster and Sahara Grill.

Stage one, which is due for completion at the end of 2015, forms part of the wider improvements plan for Sydney Airport in 2015 and 2016 designed to deliver a world-class airport experience.

The improvement works follow consultation with stakeholders and will provide a newly designed food and beverage space, with reconfigured seating that will add capacity within a relaxed dining environment.

Key benefits include:

  • Reorganised food and dining mix to provide a wider selection of fast and fresh, gourmet and street food options for passengers;
  • Increased value and choice;
  • Additional seating located within the casual dining precinct;
  • Enhanced wayfinding; and
  • Overall superior passenger experience. 

During the improvements there will be a slight reduction in the food and beverage offering in T2, however passengers will be able to access a great range of food and beverage options from a range of existing retailers including Rockin’ Rolls, Pie Face, McDonald’s, Boost Juice, Veloce, Quickshots, Toby’s Estate, Brasserie Bread and MoVida, catering to all budgets and tastes. 

Additionally, three temporary food and drink kiosks will be available within the T2 casual dining precinct offering a range of sandwiches, salads and beverages pre-flight.

“Passengers travelling domestically will notice a lot of activity over the next few months as we begin an exciting transformation of the T2 casual dining precinct,” Sydney Airport managing director and chief executive officer Kerrie Mather said.

“As part of the wider improvements plan for Sydney Airport, this project will revitalise the food and beverage offering in T2, Australia’s busiest airport terminal, as well as adding capacity and enhancing wayfinding within a relaxed environment.

“Sydney Airport is Australia’s gateway and we’re working hard to deliver our passengers an enhanced customer experience and more efficient operations to our airline partners.”

Stage one is due for completion at the end of 2015 and the works are being staged over a number of months to minimise potential disruption to passengers.
