The social media heavyweights continue to roll out new and improved features, urban camping in the pouring rain becomes a serious hobby and a sarcastic Facebook user trolling for the greater good. Here’s what happened this week.

Instagram now has 400 million monthly active users posting more than 80 million photos a day, soaring past Twitter. Want to know the best times to post? Mavrck analysed 1.3 Instagram posts over the course of a day to answer this very question.

For the first time since 2011 Twitter is redesigning its buttons, switching out the 3D look for a more UI-friendly flat look and the colour from white to blue. It’s also removing share counts, suggesting shares aren’t as valuable to Twitter as they used to be.

Facebook has upped its video game again and has introduced 360 video allowing you to choose and explore every angle when watching. Have a play with the debut video from Star Wars

The keenest of the keen technophiles have been camping and queueing in the rain for days to be the first to get their hands on the new Apple products. Lining up outside the Apple store on George Street there’s also a robot holding a place for Lucy, who actually needs to be at work, at the same time shamelessly promoting the place-holding droid.

After Doritos showed some love with its limited-edition rainbow chips, the haters came out of the woodwork. Step forward Target Troll to deliver a healthy dose of sass
