Selfie sticks, politicians with a sense of humour and the rise and rise of the emoji.

Snapchat is continuing its quest for world domination and is now releasing music videos on the platform. It's partnered with electro musician Josh Legg who will release four videos this week. A snapchat snapshot has also gone viral raising awareness for cancer.

Brands seem to be shifting away from overly branded content putting entertainment first and branding second.  Putting aside health concerns for 52 seconds, Coca-Cola’s new ad shows that you don’t need a fancy campaign to make an ad that gets 6million views.  Its latest offering compiles of laughing babies, a few graphics, a cute song and a nice message.  Pizza Hut in the US is making a public stand against the selfie stick craze releasing a PSA about the dangers of being a narc-artist to promote its new two foot pizza.  Both tenuous links to the product but both enjoyable and entertaining.

Trusty board games are becoming influenced by digital trends with more internet slang now officially scrabble legal. This latest list is questionable at best but ‘Thankx’ is definitely pushing it a bit too far. What did poor ’S’ ever do?

Emojis are getting out of hand too. Instagram says that over 40% of posts now have the little pictures, emoji is now the fastest growing language, people have been testing their emoji IQ and Unicode have announced more new ones…for June 2016. They’re getting nearly as much hype as new Apple releases.

The President of the United States officially has his own twitter account. Not only did he break the Guinness world record for the fastest time to reach 1,000,000 followers (less than five hours) but his first tweets included a comedy exchange with Bill Clinton who was #askingforafriend.

(Side note: it took me longer than I care to admit to work out what @POTUS stood for)
