Five things in five minutes
Friday 3 February, 2017

Super Bowl Sunday ads hit TV screens worldwide, LEGO branches into social media for the first time, and this year’s biggest trends in online content are revealed.

Here’s five things in five minutes to wrap up your week.

What do jogging elephants, Miranda Kerr, the cleaner of your dreams, and an avocado hypnotist have in common? That’s right, this year’s multi-million-dollar Super Bowl Sunday TV ads have been released! Check out the best (and the worst) ads here.

It has been said that ‘to know your future, you must know your past’, so why look into a crystal ball to predict this year’s biggest trends? Shutterstock, the American photography, footage, music, and editing tools provider, has forecast trends in online content for 2017, based on the most popular downloads from last year. Described as a brick-themed Instagram, LEGO Life aims to become the go-to social network for today’s kids. Boasting safer, limited exchanges and interactive character customisation, it’s only a matter of time before LEGO Life becomes the popular, kid-friendly version of Facebook.

In 2016, Facebook progressively transformed into a one-stop video shop, so it’s not surprising the channel is upping its credentials in licensed, TV-quality video. A rumoured Netflix-style app is in production, so keep an eye out for an increase in longer, higher-quality videos from the social giant.

URLs may become a thing of the past thanks to Snapchat’s new site-to-social media connection, Snapcode. Websites and brands can customise Snapcodes with logos or images, making it even easier for users to find sites on Snapchat. Read more about the new development here.
